Our Services

​At Spencer Benedict Stables, we offer professional stallion semen services tailored to each individual stallion. Services range from phantom training and collection to freezing, storage, and semen shipment.

A signed Stallion Services Agreement is required prior to services being performed.

Phantom Training

For stallions requiring initial phantom training or retraining prior to collection.

Includes:

• Ground handling & behavioral conditioning

• Introduction and acclimation to phantom

• Tease mare assistance (as available)

• Up to two (2) weeks of training

Fee: $1,250
Stallion board is not included

Stallion Board: $25.00 per day

Collection & Evaluation

For stallions that are already phantom trained.

Includes:

• Semen collection

• Basic semen evaluation

Fee: $250 per collection

Semen Freezing

Processing and freezing semen for long-term storage.

Includes:

• Semen processing and extension

• Freezing into labeled ½ ml straws

• Basic inventory documentation

Pre-printed straws with the stallion’s name and registration number will be ordered and used at an additional cost.

Fee Structure:

• $500 per collection (includes up to 100 straws)

• $100 for each additional 100 straws beyond the first 100

• Does not Include semen collection

Test Freeze

A trial freeze designed to evaluate semen quality and freezability prior to committing to a full freezing program.

Includes:

• Semen processing and freezing

• Use of multiple extenders to determine which extender is the best fit for the individual stallion

• Assessment of post-thaw performance to guide future freezing decisions

• Does not include semen collection

Fee: $750

Shipped Semen – Shipping of Semen (Cooled)

Preparation and shipment of cooled semen using an approved shipping container.

Includes:

• One semen shipment in an approved container

• Shipment via FedEx or UPS

Fee: $275.00 per shipment

Important Notes:

• Customer must return the shipping container within two (2) days after shipment

• Two (2) breeding doses provided per shipment unless limited by stallion semen availability on the day of collection

 

Shipped Semen – Shipping of Semen (Frozen)

Preparation and shipment of frozen semen using an approved shipping container.

Includes:

• One semen shipment in an approved container

• Shipment via FedEx or UPS

Fee: $varies per shipment

Important Notes:

• Customer must return the shipping container within two (2) days after shipment if renting SBS owned shipper

Frozen Semen Storage

$25.00 per month

Includes storage of up to 250 half-milliliter (½ ml) straws of frozen semen.

Additional storage beyond 250 straws may require additional fees.

Artificial Vagina (AV) Recommendation

For optimal collection consistency and stallion comfort, we recommend that each stallion have their own Artificial Vagina (AV).

Most stallions prefer the Missouri-style AV.

If a stallion does not have a personal AV, Spencer Benedict Stables utilizes a Colorado-style AV with disposable liners.

AV selection is based on stallion preference, safety, and availability.

Stallion Standing Service

For stallions under SBS management, standing at Spencer Benedict Stables, and listed on our website.

Standing service availability, breeding terms, and fees vary by stallion.

Late Fees & Payment Terms

A $25 late fee per horse PLUS a 1.5% monthly finance charge apply to all accounts not paid by due date on the invoice.
